㉓FUJII Tatsukichi, Desk lamp
This lampstand is the work of Fujii Tatsukichi, an artist who was active in a wide range of genres, including nearly all the craft disciplines—cloisonné, metalworking, woodworking, textiles (dyeing and weaving), lacquerware, and ceramics—as well as design and painting. At the heart of Fujii’s creative philosophy was the idea that his work should be closely connected to daily life, and he sought to create pieces that would resonate with people. This lampstand, made by weaving the form of tree leaves for the shade, promises to cast warm light through the shade like sunbeams streaming through foliage (komorebi).
