⑬ Bookplates
Bookplates, small slips of paper pasted into books to indicate ownership, are believed to have originated in 15th-century Germany. Two collections of bookplates owned by Hisui feature intricate designs that are delightful to the eye. While Hisui himself did not create bookplates, he stamped his books with a seal indicating ownership. This conveys his strong attachment to these books, which came into his possession through various circumstances, and his determination to keep them in his library.
