⑰Selecting designs

Some of the books in Hisui’s library contain penciled numbers, all of which correspond to designs in Collected Materials for Designs of the World. Hisui personally selected designs for this collection from books he owned. These selections cover a wide range of design media, including pottery, tapestries, and prints, reflecting the diversity of his book collection. Selecting thousands of designs one by one must have been an overwhelming task, and it is remarkable that Hisui’s collection was so huge as to make such a project possible.
