Hisui’s book collection included several texts on design, some in German and French, showing that he studied not only designs themselves but also design concepts and history from overseas books. Although it is unclear to what extent these books influenced his work, the book Aesthetics of Design, which he co-authored with Watanabe Soshu and published through Atelier Publishing in 1932, offers fundamental insights into design creation and represents a culmination of his design studies up to that point.
