Yakushima Macaque
Skillful and Wise
A relative to the Japanese Macaque, this species only inhabits the island of Yakushima. Their bodies are a bit smaller than the monkeys of mainland Japan and their fur is a little longer. They are full of energy, which they show by running and jumping around, but they are also very dexterous with their hands and can eat something as little as a grain of wheat. The highlight that you'll want to see, though, is the trust between the monkeys and the trainers, especially when training for health procedures, such as giving eye drops and collecting blood.
