⑭TAKAHASHI Kengo Return 2024

Having created works shaped after animal skulls on the theme of “life and death,” Takahashi shifted his focus to the act of “prayer” in this work. It is one of the largest examples of his works of the type in which flowers are scattered over the entire body, and was created with no specific animal in mind, but with his image of the mysterious nature. The head was based on a deer, and the horns were inspired by the shape of tree branches picked up in a forest, while imagining the shape of human hands scooping up flowers. Takahashi recognizes that the shape of a river, a tree, or a human blood vessel, which branches from a thick one to a thin one, is an ideal shape for nature, and is also considered ideal in casting molding when metal flows through the mold.
Since this is one of his largest works, the number of molds and small flowers covering the body are the largest he has ever used, making the production process extremely difficult. The artist’s persistence and perseverance in overcoming the difficulties added to the mystique of the work.
