H2 Cycling
You can try running a mini fuel cell car with hydrogen energy using a bicycle to actually create hydrogen.
*Please tell a staff member if you would like to try this activity.
(1)Pedal the bicycle.
→This generates the electricity that will be used to make hydrogen.
(2)Hydrogen is generated and stored in the cylinder.
→Having the generated electricity flow to the electrolysis equipment inside the cylinder divides the water (H₂O) electrically into hydrogen (H₂) and oxygen (O₂). The separated hydrogen can be stored even if you stop pedaling the bicycle.
(3) Hydrogen is taken out using a syringe.
→Hydrogen can be used for energy when, and in the quantities, needed, and is portable.
(4) Inject the hydrogen into the mini-car.
(5) The mini-car will move when you push the switch.
→The mini-car's fuel cell enables a chemical reaction between the injected hydrogen and the oxygen in the air that generates electricity. The mini-car uses that electricity to run.
It uses the same mechanism as an actual fuel-cell vehicle.
