Animals of Kagoshima Zone
A Large Collection of Important Local Animals
Stretching 600km north to south, a wide variety of creatures inhabit Kagoshima Prefecture. In the Animals of Kagoshima Zone, you’ll find animals from the mountains, such as racoon dogs and boars, as well as rare species from the islands. The Lidth's Jay, Kagoshima's prefectural bird, is a must see. This is the only place in Japan where you can see the northern Ryukyu fruit bat, which only inhabits a small area of Kuchierabu Island and the Tokara Islands.
