The Nature of South America Zone is home to a collection of animals from the Amazon region. The water loving Brazilian tapir and capybaras are talented swimmers and can be seen cohabiting. In the winter, the pond becomes a hot spring bath. It will sooth you seeing them comfortably soak in the water. Lazy and sleep loving armadillos and sloths also lounge around all day. Come visit the Hirakawa night zoo event held in August to observe their unique nocturnal activity.
