Whale Shark
The Large Body Moves Slowly and Calmly
The whale shark is the world’s largest fish. The one here at the Kagoshima Aquarium is named "Yuyu" and is loved by the locals. They live in tropical to temperate waters and from spring to summer, they ride the Kuroshio Current to the waters of Kagoshima. While they may be sharks, whale sharks have calm personalities and feed on small fish and plankton. Seeing one open its mouth to feed is a must-see, so be sure to stop by during the Whale Shark Feeding Time, held daily.
