Seikai-Bori (Seikai Moat)
This moat is one of the oldest moats in the castle complex and was constructed to defend the northern perimeter of the Honmaru (main bailey). The moat’s name comes from the posthumous Buddhist name of the castle’s architect, Saigo Yoritsugu.
The curved stone wall lining the moat is rare among Japanese castles.
