Sakatani Kuruwa (Sakatani Bailey)

This bailey and the Sakatani Gate, situated to the west of the Honmaru (main bailey) and Ni-no-maru (second bailey), lies almost directly west of the castle’s keep.

A semi-circular protective entrance barrier known as an umadashi was once found outside the bailey’s Sakatani Gate. The distinctive stone wall ruins of the gate retain traces of the notches that once supported the gate’s wooden beams. The large stones show the authority of the lords of Okazaki.
