The Shingon Risshū sect was established by the great monk, Abbot Ganjin (Jianzhen) who accomplished coming to Japan after going through many hardships. He built it as a temple for learning the precepts of Buddhism. There are excellent temple treasures and cultural properties still remaining such as seated statues of the buddha Rushana (Vairocana) and Abbot Ganjin.
