1. Our Company Origins

Kamezo Suzuki was the first settler of Asahikawa. In 1890, he established the Kasahara Sake Brewery in collaboration with brothers Kisuke and Kihachiro Kasahara from Sapporo. The building that stands today was built at that time. These are the roots of our company.

After that, in 1928, the building became the Asahikawa factory for Nippon Seishu Co., Ltd. Then, at the end of the Pacific War in 1944, the government instructed the sake brewing industry to reorganize and shift to soy sauce brewing.

A memorandum was exchanged between Noda Soy Sauce Co., Ltd. (now Kikkoman Co., Ltd.) and Nippon Seishu Co., Ltd., establishing what is now Nihon Shoyu Kougyo Co., Ltd.

2. An Ever Constant Traditional Taste

80 years since its establishment, from a time when few in Hokkaido gave soy sauce much attention, up to the present day, Nihon Shoyu Kougyo Co., Ltd. has continued to devote itself to producing soy sauce in its old-fashioned building, while other companies in the same industry have disappeared over time. As a result, our Kikkonihon brand came to be well appreciated by our regular customers and those from all over Hokkaido.

Today, as we preserve their traditional taste, our products, manufactured in a factory that has obtained FSSC22000 certification (the international food safety standard), are still shipped with the Kikkonihon logo, and we are doing our best as a long-established soy sauce manufacturer in Asahikawa.

3. Contributing to the Development of Hokkaido and Asahikawa

Since our founding, we have continued our business under a philosophy of "Quality First". Today, under the slogan "The secret to making soy sauce becomes the secret to product creation," we create products using local specialties of Hokkaido. We're doing our best to contribute to the development of Hokkaido and Asahikawa by utilizing our soy sauce manufacturing technology, as well as our experience in new product development.

Though history is old, our aspirations are new.

Nihon Shoyu Kougyo will continue to take on new challenges.
