In case of Moving-in, Moving-out, and Change of Address within the City, you need to submit necessary documents to the City Office.

Resident registration

Resident registration is the process of registering your residence in Japan by informing the city office. Those who have lived in Japan for longer than three months and have a 'residence card' need to go to the city hall for "Resident registration".

When you moved-in to Kawaguchi City

Notification period

You have to submit "Notification of Resident's Transfer" 【Moved-in Notification】to Kawagichi City Office within 14 days of your start living in Kawaguchi City.

 

Applicant

The person who has to submit documents is the person who is moving.

It can be a family member who lives with you or someone who is not part of your family.

 

Where to submit 

Documents for moving are submitted to the Kawaguchi City Hall, each Ekimae Administrative Centre and branch offices.

 

What you need

  1. Resident card or Special Permanent Resident Certificate.
  2. Passport.
  3. For those who have moved from abroad, and your family living with you are non-Japanese, a document showing the relationship of the family members (husband, wife, children, etc.) *Please translate into Japanese and write the name of the person who translated the document.
  4. For those who have moved  from another city, ward, town or village in Japan, notification of moving out is required.
  5. If a representative goes, a document called 'power of attorney' is required.
  6. National Health Insurance card, certificate of infant medical care, Advanced Elderly Medical Service Card, Long-Term care Insurance card, pension book, etc.(For only those who have these documents).

When you are moving out to other municipality from Kawaguchi City.

Notification period

Please submit Moving-out Notification to Kawaguchi City Office. The City Office accepts this notification from 30 days before of your actual moving-out. After your transfer is done, you have to submit Moved-in Notification to your new residing area's Municipal Office within 14 days of your start living in there.

Moving-out Notification must be submitted to Kawaguchi City Hall. After you have finished moved in to a new address, submit Moving-in Notification to a new address’s municipal office.

Change of address within Kawaguchi City

Notification period

Submit “Notice of Change of Address” to Kawaguchi City Hall within 14 days from the day you started living in new address.
