Jibutsudo Kuruwa (Jibutsudo Bailey)
This bailey, located north of the Honmaru (main bailey), provided a strong line of defense. Should the enemy breach the Ni-no-maru (second bailey) precincts they could not approach the main gates of the Honmaru without first passing through the Jibutsudo Kuruwa, which would require making a 180 degree turn along a narrow stretch of ground, exposing them to arrow and gunfire from the yokoya flank defense ports.
