Kohfukuji Temple - Tokondo Hall (East Main Hall)

Built in 726 by Emperor Shōmu as an invocation for his aunt’s complete recovery from illness. Including the principle object of worship, the statue of the Yakushi Nyorai, or Bhaisajyaguru (National Treasure), many Buddhist statues such as the Statue of Nikkō Bosatsu (Suryabrabha bodhisattva) (National Treasure), and the Statue of Gakkō Bosatsu (Candraprabha bodhisattva), are housed in this hall.
