Jellyfish Space

This corner is a world of jellyfish drifting on the waves of the vast ocean. It's a healing space where you feel as if you're swimming alongside translucent jellyfish in a calm sea bathed in gentle moonlight.

Moon jellyfish distribution: Found in temperate and tropical seas worldwide. It is a representative jellyfish found in Japan. They often experience large outbreaks in estuaries and other areas. They are also called "four-eyed jellyfish" because their four translucent white gonads resemble eyes.

What do jellyfish eat?

Jellyfish, which float gently in the sea, eat a variety of things depending on the species.
Moon jellyfish have thin, short tentacles around their bell, and they use the stinging cells (nematocysts) they release to capture and eat small plankton. In contrast, the tentacles of the red jellyfish are thick and long, and their stinging cells are stronger than those of the moon jellyfish, allowing them to weaken and eat small fish and other prey.
The melon jellyfish is an unusual jellyfish that eats other jellyfish by swallowing them whole. Therefore, it has a mouth that opens very wide.
A species of jellyfish found in Palau can survive solely on nutrients produced by symbiotic algae living within its body.
