Event Outline

Art born from human creativity has the potential to change people, society, and cities for the better. "ART FOR TRANSFORMATION Art and the Future. Transformation and Creation" is a three-day event where we can think about these possibilities together.
Shibuya-based Civic Creative Base Tokyo [CCBT] has partnered with the Austrian cultural institution Ars Electronica to create a gateway to the expanding possibilities of creativity through art and digital technology at a new gateway to Shibuya.

The expressions and ideas that creativity and technology bring about will be guideposts for cities, social systems, communities, and sustainability that citizens themselves create. Through panels and videos, we will introduce the activities that CCBT has been working on for about two years since its opening, which have brought about new proposals for our lives and culture.

Memory Volume - Reality Capture Workshop


Reality Capture is the process of scanning three-dimensional objects around us and reconstructing those places and objects in a digital space. This workshop will invite participants to walk and play together in the streets of Shibuya, discover new technologies, and share creative ideas, thoughts, and memories.

*In this workshop, we will use an iPhone and a dedicated app (Scaniverse) to scan. We will provide rental iPhones, but if you would like to use your own iPhone, please install the app (Scaniverse) in advance (iPhone 11 or later is recommended).

Welcome to Planet B - Kids Workshop

We will create animated stories together on the three themes of "food," "housing," and "transport." We will expand on the stories we experience and share our own ideas about the future of Earth (Planet B). This workshop will allow you to use your imagination and creativity to envision a sustainable future, while also experiencing the differences in each person's way of thinking and the richness of their ideas.

Talk: XR and the future of Civic Creative
What kind of changes could occur in cities if people's creativity were to be expressed in society through the use of art and digital technology? Three people who have worked at the intersection of art, technology, and creativity from different fields and positions will talk about XR (cross reality), the future of cities, and the creativity of their citizens, and think about it together.
