What is the Hakata-ori Kyuhyokai (New Works Exhibition)?

What is the Hakata-ori Kyuhyokai (New Works Exhibition)?

Hakata-ori, a designated national traditional craft with a history of more than 780 years, was introduced to Japan from China during the Kamakura period (1185-1333) as a tribute to the Edo shogunate. This year, the 122st Hakata-ori Kyuhyokai (New Works Exhibition) will be held again at Jotenzenji Temple, the birthplace of Hakata-ori. We hope that you will take a moment during the fall season to view the newest and most ambitious works of Hakata-ori textile manufacturers and artists.
