Spirit Boat Procession

A Bon Festival event held in the Sugahama area. The Sugahama Spirit Boat Seiraimaru is a huge straw boat that is 8m long and 4m wide, built by the youths from the village. The boat is decorated with colorful lanterns and other decorations, offerings are placed on board, and the boat is then sent out to sea after the candles are lit.

Terraced rice fields of Sugahama

The terraced rice fields of Sugahama cover approximately 26.6 hectares and offer a scenic view of the farmland and Wakasa Bay. In the vicinity, there are also lemon and herb gardens, an athletic field, and the Wakuwakukan facility where visitors can enjoy oven-baked pizza. In June 2022, the area was selected as one of the Rice Terrace Heritage by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

Wakasa Bay Bazaar Chidorien

One of the largest drive-in restaurants in Hokuriku, popular for its seafood buffet that visitors can enjoy along with the scenery of Wakasa Bay. The shop offers a wide selection of souvenirs, including heshiko and other sweets recommended by Hiroshi Itsuki. At the adjacent brewery, visitors can sample Wakasa beer and take a tour of the factory.
