As the boat operates on the Five Lakes of Mikata, which are registered as wetlands under the Ramsar Convention, the boat does not use any fuel such as fuel oil in consideration of the natural environment, and instead operates on the electricity generated by the solar panels of the Mihama Lake Center which are stored in 240 lithium-ion secondary batteries (about 300kWh) mounted on the stern of the ship. The solar panels installed on the roof are used to power devices that only require small amounts of electricity, such as the thrusters (devices that move the boat left and right).
