Sunday, February 8th is the voting day for the general election of the House of Representatives and the national referendum on Supreme Court judges. Voting hours are from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Envelopes for each member of your household should be placed and mailed to the address on your resident registration. Mailings are scheduled to begin on February 3rd. Even if you do not have an election notice, you can still vote as long as you can verify your identity.

Some polling places will be changed this time. Please be aware if you live in an affected area.
▷ Providing childcare support allowances to combat rising prices

To support families raising children who are severely affected by rising prices and to support the healthy growth of their children, the Child-rearing Support Allowance for High Prices will be provided. The allowance is 20,000 yen per child for the period up to the first March 31st after the child turns 18. The allowance is a one-time payment.
◆ Child allowance recipients for children eligible for child allowance payments in September 2025. For children born in September 2025, application for child allowance payments in October is not required in principle. Please check the information sent in January.
◆ First-time recipients of child allowance for children born between October 1, 2025 and March 31 , 2026
Application: In principle, no application is required. Those who applied for child allowance by December 25, 2025, should check the information sent in January. Those who applied for the same allowance after December 26 of the same year will receive information in sequence. * Those who applied for child allowance due to divorce (including those in the process of divorce negotiations) between October 1, 2025 and March 31, 2026.

Beware of suspicious phone calls. Amagasaki City will never call you to ask you to operate an ATM regarding the payment of the Childcare Support Allowance for High Prices. Please be extremely careful of bank transfer scams.

To support citizens facing rising prices for food items such as rice, we will distribute "nationwide rice gift certificates" worth 3,080 yen per person (seven certificates worth 440 yen each). These certificates can be used at rice stores, supermarkets, drugstores, and other stores that accept them.
Starting in mid-February, the number of cards for each household member will be mailed to the head of the household. If you change your address after December 2, 2025, please apply for a postal forwarding service at your post office as soon as possible. Please note that depending on the time the card is sent, it may not be forwarded even if you apply.
Eligible recipients: Households registered in Amagasaki City's Basic Resident Register as of December 1, 2025. Application: Not required.

To improve the local community, we will subsidize part of the expenses for public interest projects that citizens themselves come up with and work on together. One project per organization, with a maximum subsidy of 300,000 yen. Eligible projects must be public interest projects carried out across the city in the next fiscal year by citizen-led groups consisting of three or more people with their base of operations within the city. Other requirements apply.
Application: Please submit the required forms to the Collaboration Promotion Division in person, by mail, or by email between February 2nd and 16th (must arrive by this date). Selection process will be conducted.

To promote efforts to recycle plastic resources, we have installed collection boxes for used PET bottle caps at public facilities and elementary schools within the city. As a further initiative, we have signed an agreement with Nippon Yamamura Glass Co., Ltd. to strengthen our collaboration on the collection and recycling of PET bottle caps, with the aim of realizing a sustainable, recycling-oriented society.

We collect garbage that is difficult to dispose of, such as leftover food from households and spray cans that cannot be completely filled. No application required.
Items to be recalled
Leftover food from the home, mobile phone bodies and chargers, fluorescent tubes, mercury-based thermometers, blood pressure monitors and thermometers, button batteries, small rechargeable batteries (mobile batteries, lithium-ion batteries, nickel-cadmium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries), small devices with non-removable batteries (electronic cigarettes, wireless earphones, etc.), spray cans that cannot be completely drained, and used vegetable cooking oil.
Surplus food in the home is food that meets all of the following criteria:
▷Unopened ▷More than one month until the expiration date ▷Can be stored at room temperature ▷Ingredients or allergens are listed in Japanese ▷Does not contain alcohol (mirin and cooking sake are acceptable)
Once you have finished using the vegetable cooking oil, let it cool down and then return it to the original plastic container or plastic bottle and close the lid.

Recruiting participants for community gardens
The new lot is offering 128 plots at three locations: Farms 33, 44, and 45. Each plot is approximately 15 square meters, including the walkway. Applications are limited to one plot per household. Multiple applications or applications in someone else's name will be invalid. The lots can be used from April 15th. Contracts are renewed annually for a maximum of five years.
Eligible participants: Adults living in the city who are not using other community gardens as of April 1st. There is a special quota for people with disabilities, those receiving medical care, or those with mental disabilities who hold a health and welfare certificate. There are no age restrictions. In all cases, participants are not allowed to drive to the garden.
Fee: 19,740 yen per year (including water charges)
Application: Between February 1st and 10th (must arrive by this date), please write your address, name (with furigana), phone number, age, desired farm number, disability certificate type and number for those with disabilities, and the name of a guardian for those under 17 years old on a postcard and send it to the Agriculture Policy Division. The successful applicant will transfer the usage fee to the designated account and then enter into a contract. Please note that applicants must present identification when signing the contract. If there are a large number of applications, a lottery will be held at the same division on the 5th floor of the City Hall Central Building from 9:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16th.
Recruiting various volunteers
◆Volunteer support for cultivating sweet potatoes We are looking for volunteers to help cultivate sweet potatoes in the fields of Muko district from late April to October. We will give away small gifts according to the number of times you participate.
◆Agricultural Park Management Volunteers We are looking for volunteers to help maintain flower beds and other areas at the agricultural park from April to March next year (excluding August) on the third Wednesday of every month from 9:30am to 11:30am.
The cost for both is an insurance premium of 500 yen. Applications should be made by February 1st to 28th (must arrive by this date) by phone, postcard, or email to the department, stating your address, name (with furigana), phone number, and age if you are an agricultural park management volunteer.

At 11:00 a.m. on February 6th (Monday), a training broadcast will be conducted via the disaster prevention administrative radio system, using outdoor loudspeakers and other means throughout the city. This system is designed to deliver information that requires immediate action, such as tsunami information and earthquake early warnings, to citizens.

On Saturday, February 7th, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the Public Local Wholesale Market will be holding an open market fair where you can experience purchasing fresh food and other items on-site. Those who spend 300 yen or more at each of the two stores on-site will receive a gift certificate that can be used on-site (first 400 people). Participation cards will be distributed on-site on the day.

From March 10th to 12th, 17th to 19th, April 3rd (Mon), and April 14th to 17th from 1:00 pm, we will be holding a special citizen discount day where you can enter a lottery to watch Hanshin Tigers Farm (2nd team) games at Nippon Steel SGL Stadium Amagasaki at a discount.
Eligible: Residents of the city. Fee: 1,000 yen for high school students and above, 100 yen for children aged 4 to junior high school students. Application: Use the dedicated form from February 1st to 15th. Applications are limited to one per person per game, up to six people. After the lottery, an information postcard will be sent to the winners.

On Tuesday, March 31st, from 6:30pm, Amashin Archaic Hall will be closing from April 1st due to earthquake-proofing construction work. As the final event before the closure, a commemorative concert will be held to connect 50 years of gratitude and hope for the future. You can enjoy performances by artist Iwao Furusawa, who has a connection to the hall, as well as the Amagasaki Municipal High School and Amagasaki Sousei High School brass bands.
