Amagasaki City PR booklet
This is what's great about Amagasaki!
Get anywhere easily! Excellent transportation convenience!
Hankyu, JR, and Hanshin lines run through the city, and there are 13 stations within the city. It is also convenient for commuting to Osaka and Kobe. The construction of a new Hankyu station around Mukogawa (tentative name) is also planned, making the city even more convenient.
Shopping heaven
The area has the most shops (retail stores and restaurants) in the Hanshin area, including the shopping mall in front of the station, old-fashioned shopping streets, and supermarkets!
It's becoming increasingly popular as a filming location!
Many movies and dramas have been filmed in the city, including "Amarokku," which is set in Amagasaki!
Lots of attractive parks
There are many attractive parks, such as Motohama Green Space, where you can splash around in water in the summer, and Kamisakabe Nishi Park, which also has a greenhouse where you can enjoy flowers and plants of all seasons.
Fresh! Sweet vegetables
"Ama" vegetables grown in Saki, or "amayasai" for short! These safe, secure and fresh vegetables are very popular.
The town is becoming newer and newer!
◆Area branding is progressing
Taking advantage of the characteristics of each area, particularly around train stations, we are working on developing not only the hard aspects of the town, but also the soft aspects to encourage people to use the town.
◆Zero Carbon Baseball Park Completed
The Zero Carbon Baseball Park (Hanshin Tigers Farm Facility) will open in March 2025! With the slogan "Three Ecos, Change!", a new, eco-friendly town is being created in the area, including Oda Minami Park and Omonogawa Green Space.
History, culture and environment of Amagasaki
Tano Ruins, Omono area, Amagasaki Castle
Amagasaki is an area with a rich history, including the remains of a large Yayoi period settlement called the Tano Ruins (a nationally designated historic site), which reveals an advanced lifestyle before the Common Era, and the Omono area, which developed during the Middle Ages as a distribution center with deep ties to the capital. In the early Edo period, Amagasaki Castle was built as a new castle to protect the west of Osaka, the shogunate's base of control over the western provinces, and a castle town was formed. After being abandoned during the Meiji Restoration, it was rebuilt in 2019 and is beloved as the last castle of the Heisei era.
Monzaemon Chikamatsu, Kazuo Shiraga
The grave of Chikamatsu Monzaemon, an Edo period playwright who was active in the world of Bunraku puppet theatre and Kabuki, is located in the city's Kosaiji Temple. Also, abstract painter Shiraga Kazuo was born and raised in Amagasaki, and is known worldwide for his unique style of painting, known as "foot painting."
Amagasaki Takigi Noh
Takigi Noh is performed outdoors around a bonfire. The Amagasaki Takigi Noh is held every year in Amagasaki. Local children who practice daily at the Amagasaki Children's Noh School also perform.
Amagasaki Forest Central Green Space
The Amagasaki 21st Century Forest Initiative aims to develop an environmentally symbiotic town where people and nature coexist in 1,000 hectares in the Amagasaki waterfront. A forest will be created in the central green space of the area, where seedlings grown from locally harvested seeds will be planted, and a variety of events will be held there, attracting families and others.
Mukogawa Higenowatashi Cosmos Garden
Mukogawa Higenowatashi Cosmos Garden was born when a volunteer group made up of local residents transformed a once-desolate riverbed into a beautiful cosmos garden. The garden, where approximately 5.5 million cosmos flowers bloom from late October to mid-November, is a famous autumn spot in Amagasaki.
Fireflies: A seasonal feature of summer
Thanks to conservation efforts by local residents, every year from May to June you can see Genji fireflies in Nishimuko Park, and Hime fireflies in Agricultural Park and around the Inagawa and Mogawa rivers.
This is what Amagasaki is like!
A town that supports both work and child-rearing
Aiming to be a town that supports both "work" and "child-rearing," the city has formulated the "Amagasaki Children and Child-rearing Action Plan." The plan provides support for all child-rearing households in three areas: "household finances," "comfort," and "peace of mind," and is working to improve child-rearing support so that people can work while raising their children.
◆ Supporting household finances
We will support household finances by expanding subsidies for medical expenses and prenatal checkups, and reducing childcare fees.
◆ Support for peace of mind
We will reduce the psychological burden by expanding postpartum care and opening child-rearing consultation centers.
◆Support for leisure
We will reduce time burdens by eliminating the waiting list for nursery schools and making nursery school procedures available online using ICT.
◆Childcare information website "Amanism with Kids"
The website introduces the town's attractions and child-rearing support initiatives under five categories: "About the town," "Money," "Entrustment," "Peace of mind," and "School."
A town with a "Lifelong Learning Plaza" that supports urban development
There are 12 "Lifelong Learning Plazas" throughout the city, which serve as bases for people to take an interest in their local communities and towns, learn from their interactions with others, and work together with their peers to solve local issues and improve their appeal.
A city where everyone can continue to live comfortably
Amagasaki City has excellent transportation accessibility, and in order to improve the living environment to make it easier for people to raise children while working, the city has formulated a "housing policy package for creating a good living environment for families with children to settle or relocate to the city," and is working on this.
◆Increase the number of spacious homes
We support a comfortable lifestyle by assisting people relocating from outside the prefecture and purchasing a quality detached house.
◆ Making use of public housing
We support new life by utilizing public housing, including renovations for families with children.
◆ Developing proactive measures to combat vacant houses
We also provide comprehensive support for efforts to be made before a house becomes vacant, such as setting up a comprehensive consultation desk for housing and vacant houses.
