Payments to the Town

There are payments which all residents make to the town.

Resident Tax: This tax includes the expenses required for administrative services for residents provided by the local government and the Prefecture, and is to be paid according to an individual's income. The sum of municipal and prefectural taxes is collected as resident tax. Those who maintain an address in this town as of January 1 must pay this tax.

Property Tax: Property tax is paid every year on January 1 (base date of assessment) by those who own land, houses, and depreciable assets (collectively referred to as "fixed assets"). The amount of tax is calculated based on the price of these fixed assets and paid to the municipality in which they are located.

National Health Insurance Tax: A medical insurance which is required to receive medical services at hospitals. This health insurance scheme is managed by prefectures and municipalities. Insurance tax is calculated based on the income of individuals and the household, and is paid by the head of household. Those enrolled in Social Insurance, etc. are not taxed.

Light Vehicle Tax: A tax paid by those who own motorized bicycles, light cars, etc. as of April 1st every year. The tax amount is determined by the type and model year of the vehicle.

Water & Sewage Fees: In addition to the basic charge regardless of whether water is used, there is also a charge which depends on the amount used.
