Maternal and Child Health Handbook

When you inform the counter or ward office that you are expecting a baby, you will receive a "Maternal and Child Health Handbook" and a "Mother and Child Health Bag."

Prenatal checkups, newborn hearing screening, postpartum checkups, and 1-month-old infant checkups.

A medical consultation form is included in the "Mother and Child Health Bag."

You can get tested at hospitals and other facilities in Tokyo.

Dental health checkups for pregnant and postpartum women

The "Mother and Child Health Bag" contains a "Maternal and Child Dental Health Checkup Voucher." You can receive a dental checkup at a medical institution within the ward.

Happy Mama Tamago Interview

If you tell the health support center in your area that you are pregnant, they will conduct an interview to help you feel at ease during childbirth.

Support payments for pregnant women (1st payment)

If you apply after the "Happy Mama Tamago Interview," you can receive 50,000 yen.

Postpartum care services

After your baby is born, you can receive assistance at a birthing center through overnight stays, day visits, or home visits.

Birth registration

In Japan, if a baby is born, you must register the birth within 14 days, including the day of birth.

Baby visit (newborn visit)

Once your baby is born, please first send in the "Birth Notification Form" found in the "Mother and Child Health Bag" (you can also do this from your smartphone). A midwife or public health nurse will then visit your home to measure your baby's weight and provide childcare advice.

Support payments for pregnant women (second round)

After the "baby visit (newborn visit)," you can apply for a 50,000 yen payment.

vaccination

We will give your newborn baby an injection to prevent illness. When it's time for the injection, we will send you a pre-vaccination questionnaire. If you have the questionnaire, the vaccination will be free of charge.

Child allowance

We will provide financial assistance to people living in Japan who are raising children up to high school age (ages 0-18).

Child medical expense subsidy

We will help pay for medical expenses for children up to high school age (ages 0-18) living in Kita Ward.

Family relocation expense assistance

We will help you pay off the expenses you incurred when you moved.

People who can get money

- People who have two children under the age of 18

People who have lived in Kita Ward for more than one year

People who moved to a larger house than before

- People moving from one private rental property in Kita Ward to another private rental property in Kita Ward.
