Maternal and Child Health Handbook

When you tell the counter or ward office that you are expecting a baby, you will receive a "Maternal and Child Health Handbook" and a "Mother and Child Health Bag."

Prenatal health check-ups and newborn hearing tests

The "Mother and Child Health Bag" contains a "Prenatal Health Check-up Ticket."

Tests can be taken at hospitals in Tokyo.

Dental health check-up for pregnant women

The "Mother and Child Health Bag" contains a "Pregnant Women's Dental Health Checkup Ticket." You can receive a dental checkup at a medical institution in the ward.

Hapi Mama Tamago Interview

When you tell your local health support center that you are having a baby, they will interview you to make sure you feel comfortable giving birth to your baby.

Support benefits for pregnant women (1st installment)

Support benefits for pregnant women will be provided to those who apply after taking the "Hapi Mama Tamago Interview."

Postnatal care business

After your baby is born, you can receive help from a midwifery clinic, either overnight, day care or visiting.

Birth registration

When a baby is born, please report the birth within 14 days.

Baby visit (newborn visit)

When your baby is born, please remember to submit the "Birth Notification Card" that is included in the "Mother and Child Health Bag." A midwife or public health nurse will visit your home to weigh the baby and provide childcare advice.

Support benefits for pregnant women (2nd installment)

After the "baby visit (newborn visit)", benefits will be paid to those who applied.

Vaccination

In order to prevent your newborn baby from getting sick, you will be given an injection. When it is time for your baby to get the injection, you will be asked to submit a vaccination slip. If you have this slip, the vaccination will be free of charge.

Child Allowance

The money will be given to people raising children up to high school age (0-18 years old).

Child medical expenses subsidy

This program helps pay for hospital expenses for children up to high school age (0-18 years old) living in Kita Ward.

Family household relocation subsidy

It will help pay for some of the costs incurred when you move.
