Urban Culture Created by Port
The culture of Edo, the capital of water, bloomed on the stage of waterside. On the foot in bridges, as nodes between water transport and land transportation, amusement places were born and became sightseeing spots where emotion peculiar to the waterside and the sense of liberation attracted many people. People used to enjoy boating, fishing, and seeing the fireworks from many boats floating on the water. Also, a rich variety of seafood and seaweed brought from the sea in front of Edo City have cultivated unique and attractive food culture, such as Nigiri Sushi.
