Haiinugaya (Cephalotaxus harringtonia var. nana)

In the beech groves, visitors can see deciduous trees such as ōbakuromoji (Lindera umbellata Thunb. var. membranacea) and Amur maple (Acer japonicum), and evergreen shrubs such as Japanese plum yew (Cephalotaxus harringtonia var. nana) and Japanese holly (Ilex crenata var. paludosa).

These trees are characteristic of the Japanese beech forests in the areas of heavy snowfall that face the Sea of Japan.
