Sagrada Família

Sagrada Família (also known as the Church of the Holy Family) is a Roman Catholic basilica in Barcelona, Spain that was designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí. Construction on the basilica began in 1882 and has yet to be completed. It is considered Gaudí's masterpiece and a representative example of Catalan modernist architecture.

According to 2011 data, more people visit the basilica (3.2 million) than the Prado Museum (2.9 million) and Alhambra (2.3 million). This makes Sagrada Família the most popular tourist attraction in Spain.

Sagrada Família was originally a Gothic-style building but was redesigned when Gaudí joined the project in 1883. Work on the basilica was a gradual process, with each new section only being built after it was sketched on the spot by Gaudí.

Only 31 years old when he took over the project, Gaudí devoted the last 15 years of his life to his work on the basilica.
