“I want people to discover the goodness of Japanese dairy produce”

We are engaged in dairy farming based on the motto, “Good ingredients make good products,” and we are investing effort in production that uses home-grown feed. For both humans and cows, what we ingest is especially important in order to live healthily. The taste of raw milk varies depending on what kind of feed is used, and when the quality of the feed falls, cattle can even experience stress.

Cows are very sensitive creatures. It is essential to talk to them every day and provide physical contact, such as brushing. When we feed our cattle, we try hard to talk to them gently, taking care not to shout. The cows must also really enjoy living in this vast natural environment. These incredibly gentle-mannered cows do not raise their voices, even when they are suffering. And that is precisely why we take care every day to ensure their health.

I have just started working as the fifth owner of this dairy farm. The agricultural cooperative that I belong to makes yoghurt as well as milk, and I hope that more of Japanese dairy products be available in the supermarkets, and that more people can discover the goodness of them. To tell the truth, we have not yet made inroads in terms of circulation. I am working hard every day in the hope that my work will help vitalize the local area.
