Weeping cherry trees at the Gonotani Creek

Weeping cherry trees which blossom along the Gonotani Creek next to the Uchiko town hall branch office. In full bloom about 20 beautifully colored cherry trees decorate the road on a 100m long stretch.

Double flowered cherry trees at Ryuo Park

A rare yellowish-green double flowered cherry tree near Auberge Uchiko. The "Ryuo-Sakura-Matsuri" (Cherry Blossom Festival) is held at the end of March.

Cherry trees at Chisei Park

At the back of the "Karari Farmers' Market & Restauranti" cherry trees stretch over a length of nearly 200m.

Weeping cherry in Ishidatami-Higashi

The tree is over 350 years old, 8m tall and its branches span over 15m. On the weekend of full bloom the "Weeping cherry tree in Ishidatami East festival" is held.

When passing through the covered bridge in front of the Misogi elementary school, this weeping cherry tree will be greeting you.

Cherry trees at Okubi pond

When the cherry trees are in full bloom, the Okubi pond surrounded by blossoms forms an idyllic rural scenery. On weekends during full bloom, food stands lined up by local shops will give you a warm welcome.

The Imodane (potato seed) cherry tree

This tree in the Uchiko Ikeda region is said to be over 400 years old. According to the local tradition "the good time to plant potatoes comes when this cherry tree starts to blossom".

Aino-no-hana

The 9th generation family head of the Takezaki family planted this tree when he was around 20 as "Ai-no-hana" (blossom of love) for the birth of his child. On his 50th wedding anniversary he renamed the tree to "Aino-no-hana" (blossom of the Aino region). Very beautiful indeed, when looked at from the small pond next to the cherry tree, reflecting its blossoms.

Weeping cherry trees in Nomura

A weeping cherry tree, gracefully decorate this mountain hamlet. Among the Sakura places in Uchiko, this rather unknown spot is one of the best. At the time of full bloom the "Uchiko Mountain Hamlet Nomura Cherry Blossom Festival" is held.

The Yozen cherry tree

Said to be over 500 years old, it was named "Yozen (world goodness) cherry tree" hoping for society to develop into "a good world". At the time of full bloom the "Kamikawa Sakura Festival" is held.

Specialty lunch Roadside Station: Oda-no-sato SESERAGI


There is a famous specialty from the old days in "Kajika-tei" at the Roadside Station "Oda-no-seseragi", where they serve "Tarai Udon".
Udon made of Ehime flour is especially chewy and very delicious.
It is served with broth of rustic and nostalgic taste, taken from Soya beans, dried sardines and dried Shiitake mushrooms. When you stop by, please have a try!
